And so here we are… again

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what to write for the title. Something catchy, but also something that alluded to the story. Or at least, the idea of the story, which is, in this case, the fact that our website is back up and operational! This is exciting news! What, you’re not excited? Well, maybe that’s because you don’t know what’s happened and therefore have no context for the excitement?

Several months ago, as our website was trucking along it’s merry website way, doing what websites do when they truck, we were hit by a hacker. We informed the web-hosting company. Clearly they would want to know that some group, organization or person was infiltrating their rigid security. They didn’t seem to care. Clearly they would want their high-profile customers kept safe from such disturbances. They didn’t seem to care. Although, perhaps it’s fair to assume we weren’t their highest of high-profile customers. But I like to think of ourselves in terms of where we will be rather than where we are, so for the purposes of this story we were the Lady GaGa of bakery internet sites (there’s a name for this condition: delusions of grandeur!)

It turned out that our only viable options were:

1. Shut the website down (perhaps to rebuild from scratch.)

2. Keep our website operational understanding that all of our graphics and content  was replaced by pro-Islamic anti-American propaganda containing footnotes in an unknown Middle Eastern language at the base of the page.

This was a difficult decision, as you can probably imagine. I mean, after all, the US does deserve to be reevaluated and its influence on the world accounted for in greater detail. And Islam is one of the oldest religions having brought about many significant practices and techniques into global awareness. However, in the end we decided that having to choose between one or the other was just too stressful.

It was determined that such a debate, if it needed to be had, was best had on a site not already dedicated to cookies and other baked treats. It’s probably a worthy discussion. Though, the person most passionate about this subject should follow other people’s leads and purchase their own website; wherein any statement can be supported with any graphics choice he/she might make and in whatever language he/she would choose (even if that language is broken.)

Needless to say, we took the site down. Thanks to our webmaster, the error that allowed the hack to occur was repaired. The site went back up. But, as you all know, once you try Luckee Dutch you want to keep coming back, and so the site was hacked again. It was backloaded to a previous date and went live again. Man are our cookies good, though! I mean, third time’s the charm good! So we were hacked yet again. Being hacked once – when the traffic on our site was so low that it didn’t even register on Google or Yahoo! search engines – was trying enough. But hacked three times in the span of a single month was ridiculous. So the site went down and we thought it would be for good.

“Not so!” said our super webmaster. He and his staff worked tirelessly on the project. That is an assumption on my part as I wasn’t there while they were working. Nor did I get an account of all of the hours they were deprived from sleeping due to our web problems. That information is not usually included in invoices.

Even though we at Luckee Dutch were ready to ditch our online presence (accepting, of course, that we remained on Facebook and Twitter,) our webmaster suggested he could get the site up and active. We located a new host for this site rebirth and now here we are. Again.

We will be working to update the site with all of the changes we’ve made in our kitchen. Nutritional information for all of our breads, cakes and cookies will slowly be added as well. Now that I’m thinking about it, there’s a lot of work I still need to do on this site. Ah, it’s good to be back.

My husband and daughter just rescued me with some of your WONDERFUL Gluten Free treasures. (My daughter went to school with Casey). Thank you so much for your extreme efforts to take care of us who can’t indulge in regular products. The cinnamon roll was the best ever GF or not that I’ve ever had.
